New Work:  Valley of Fire Series

The Lord is the one who by his power made the earth. He is the one who by his wisdom established the world. And by his understanding he spread out the skies.~Jeremiah 10:12

I had the opportunity recently to spend some time in the Mohave Desert and I am presently working on a desert series. Here is the first work, "Breath of All Mankind" of a canyon wall at sunset in the Valley of Fire. #ValleyofFire #MohaveDesert

Hidden

Picture
"Hidden" was captured on a beautiful day while my husband and I were walking through one of the meadows located on the Westport Town Farm. The sun was shining and the sheaves of wheat were gently swaying in the breeze. It suddenly struck me to sit down and observe the picture of the distant river framed by the wheat.  I could be a child watching my father work the fields, a red fox stalking its prey, or a native witnessing the landing of great explorers.  Wherever Hidden takes you, may your imagination wander happily.

Hidden is printed on a museum mount, black edged canvass, ready for handing or may be accompanied by a shadow-box style frame.

Joist A Little Timeworn I & II

Picture
"Joist A Little Timeworn" was captured on an impromptu stop at the Heritage State Park in Fall River.  It was cloudy, diffused light, but a warm spring day after the cold New England winter.  My husband graciously sat on a park bench reading, allowing me to meander about, camera in hand.  I perched myself by the water's edge wondering about the rich shipping heritage in the area.  I imagined the variety of men working the docks, each bringing their country's heritage to their toil.  It was then that I glanced down and saw this timeworn joist precariously discarded amongst the boulders.  The detail of these photographs takes me back to that day...  Breathing in the still cool salty air and running my hand across the beams and feeling the warm, rough grain of the wood and the cold, pitted rusted metal.

Joist A Little Timeworn I & II are printed on a black edged, wood mount with a high gloss finish.

The Fibers of Her Being (L)
Wherever His Hand Has Lain (R)

Picture
These photographs were inspired by William Carlos William's poem, Queen-Anne's Lace.  William's poem, filled with double visual metaphors and written with a nod to perhaps the cubist paintings of his day, succinctly describes the metamorphosis from bud to bloom undertaken by this delicate flower.   Queen Anne's Lace takes me back to scampering barefooted through wild fields...  Running, arms outstretched, wide smiled, eyes closed, brushing my hands through the grasses before finally throwing myself down upon the soft meadow grasses and gazing up at the clouds.  Whenever I see it, I can't help but run my fingers through its delicate white flowers.

The Fibers of Her Being and Wherever His Hand Has Lain are printed on gallery wrapped canvass with a low luster finish.
